Online Texts

The Society for the Study of Medieval Languages and Literature has published monographs since 1936. Some of these have become classics in their field and the Society intends to make these freely available over time in pdf format on this website.

The first to be re-published in this way is Medium Ævum Monograph IV, Roberto Weiss, Humanism in England during the Fifteenth Century (1941 [2nd ed.: 1957; 3rd ed.: 1967]). Its fourth edition will provide the text, with the author's addenda incorporated, with, in addition, an introduction, updated addenda and an appendix of previously unpublished texts. It is being posted in instalments between October and December 2009 and the first instalments are now available to view.
